About Me
I think I must have lost my “About Me” page when I updated the site, so I thought I’d do a new one in the form of FAQ’s:
Q ASL?
A Cheeky… ok, ok, I’m 31 years old, (you know I’ll regret typing that because I’ll have to come and age every year and I know I’ll forget). I come from Somerset, I lived in the South East and London for a total of ten years, I got fed up of being considered a second class citizen to all the imigrants coming into the country, so I moved back to the West Country where I feel much more at home and a lot less stressed. Oh and clearly I’m female.
Q Anything else we should know about you?
A I’m slightly bonkers… it helps if you live in the UK to be bonkers. I’m not single, I’m not gay, and I’m soooo not into Football. I like to read a lot, however I read so fast I don’t have time to update what I’m reading so I stopped listing what I was reading.
Q We get you like to read a bit… what are you into?
A I like Crime, Mystery and Thriller novels, some of my favourite authors include, Lee Child, John Connolly, Mathew Reilly, Kathy Reichs, Dean Koontz, Linda Fairstein, Robert Crais, James Rollins and Patricia Cornwell, oh and now I’m addicted to Neil Gaiman.
Q Wow! that’s quite a few, we take it you like to read?!?
A Yes I read a lot, I can read a book in a day.
Q What about that Harry Potter?
A Yes I’ve read all the Harry Potter books, more than once, no I don’t care what you might think of me for that, they’re good books, well written and I have much respect for an author who can get children to read books.
Q Clearly you’re a sell out, so what about The Da Vinci Code?
A Yes I have read all the Dan Brown books, if you don’t get carried away with if they may or may not be true, they’re quite a good read (if you want to speculate, go read the Holly Blood and the Holy Grail which isn’t fiction).
Q What about the craze for chicklit?
A No I don’t like chicklit, it’s a vacuous waste of paper, but if you like it, then good for you, at least it’s a book.
Q Surely you can’t read all day, what do you do for a living?
A Oh… what do I do? I’m a project manager / business analyst / change manager / web manager… pick one, I do all four. I build websites and intranets for people, well not develop them but I put them together for people.
Q So who do you work for?
A No I won’t tell you who I work for, I’d have to kill you if I did that… (don’t worry, that was a joke). I’m currently working on building an intranet for someone. I find it interesting.
Q So I guess you work in IT?
A Yes that meas I work in IT. I’ve worked in IT for over ten years now. I did telephone support, then desktop support, server support… so yes I know my way around a computer.
Q Apple Mac or Windows PC?
A Apple Mac without a doubt, I’ve been converted and now I preach the ways of the Mac, it’s like a religion to me ;o)
Q So are you a deeply relgious person?
A No, it’s all a bunch of fairy tales to me. I would say without religion there’d be no wars but I’m sure they’d find something else to fight about.
Q What else do you like doing?
A Watching junk on TV, motorsports (watching, not doing), cooking and judging by the amount that I actually do, I think I should add cleaning to the list.
Q What junk?
A CSI (I blame Ali G for getting me addicted to that), House, Cold Case, Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, Futurama, Simpsons, ER, Heroes and BBC dramas. Oh I also love Mythbusters, documentaries on engineering and nature programmes in HD. I also have a huge DVD collection and a huge TV.
Q How big is huge?
A Well you know… size is everything… oh, no sorry, you wanted to know the size of the DVD collection and the size of the TV. 400 DVD’s and 46″ TV.
Q Wow
A See, size is everything.
Q So what films do you like?
A Action, Martial Arts, Foreign or Arty films really, although I’m a complete snob.
Q What’s your favourite film then?
A I don’t just have one… I have many. I can never narrow it down to just one. Although if I had to then Hero has to be it. Big Bond fan as well though.
Q Ah, Bond, so which one then?
A Connery or Craig. Craig wouldn’t be kicked out of bed for eating toast, damn, I can’t concentrate now.
Q Motorsports eh? What kind?
A BTCC (British Touring Car Championship for the n00bs out there), F1 & Rallying.
Q Ooooh what teams
A Whoever’s winning? No only joking, normally whatever team Matt Neal is on, McLaren (used to be Renault, but well the childish little Spaniard lost my respect after last year), Rallying has to be Petta Solberg.
Q What do you like to cook?
A Food, clearly?!?
Q Any specific music tastes?
A In food? are you off your nut or something?
Q Noooo what music do you like?
A Ah, I getcha, lots of things. My music collection is wide and varied, from classical through to grunge. At the moment I’m listening to BT (no not British Telecom), Hybrid, Chicane, Patty Griffin, Ray Lamontagne, Sleeptheif, Fluke, Gus Gus, Shigeru Umebayashi, Enigma, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pearl Jam and A-ha. Yes it’s eclectic, however it’s only a small fraction of what I own.
Q Who’s your favourite?
A I’ve yet to get bored of Ray Lamontagne or Hybrid so I guess those are probably my favourites.
Q Favourite track?
A It was Synaesthesia by the Thrillseekers, but it doesn’t do much for me any more. I keep playing Love in the Time of Theives by BT and it won’t leave my head so I think I like that, but I also love Trouble and Hold you in my Arms by Ray Lamontagne. I was somewhat gutted I didn’t get to see him live last year. I’ve got a lot I love listening to though, random tracks here and there, I might get around to writing them all down one day.
Q Any ambitions?
A Not many, don’t see the point it’s farther to fall when they don’t happen. An author would probably be the biggest, but I’m naff at writing (as shown by the amount of time you lotstay on here reading the drivel I write, let alone the amount of comments I get about how bad I am or even how good I am… no that’s not going to happen I know).
Q What to people come here looking for?
A My MT4 Blogroll widget seems to be the most popular, which can be found here. “She-woman-cat-type-thing just puked on my shoes” seems to be a close second though. God knows why I’ve not looked at the post it keeps going to.
Q Oh so you use your stats then?
A Yes, I do read my stats which is how I found out about some underhand behavior of some former colleagues and the blanket banning of an IP range. I pretty much know what ISP’s my friends are on and when they get to the site… except the ones who read through RSS.
Q Do you have regular readers then?
A Yes, a few, and I value them most highly, Bedshaped, Viggy La Q and BNUG.
Q So you mean three then?
A Well a few is more than a couple and as there clearly are more than two, a few is the answer?!?
Q You seem to comment on news items a lot, why is that?
A I’m a complete news junkie, and I have an opinion. I don’t get to share it with people as I don’t talk to many people (read that as friends), so I share it on here, I don’t really mind if you agree or disagree with me, I just feel I need to air my grievances sometimes.
Q You sure do moan a lot don’t you?
A Yeah… it’s a problem. I have no excitement in my life, can’t you tell? Anyway, when I moan about stuff, people normally end up laughing at me, so it’s often a comical event.
Q Anything else to say?
A Dunno, are you asking anything else?
