News worthy
Every evening I find myself drawn to watching the hour of news on the BBC. THe first half an hour is often more interesting as it’s the general news, who’s shot who in whatever country, who is visiting who, and what the “experts” are telling us we should or shouldn’t do today (and they say this is a democratic country, isn’t this tantamount to the communist propaganda that they tend to play to the masses in communist countries like North Korea?). Anyhooo… after the first half an hour is up, we get our local news.
We used to get the London news (we live in Kent but hey we’re just a suburb of London isn’t it?). Oh how we used to complain about it (I must point out that the only reason why we got that news was because we have Telewest Cable TV, and that was all the BBC made available to them at the time). Now however we get Kent and Southern Counties news. Oh my god… do they scrap the barrel for news or what? In the last week, we’ve had the same news report 2 days in a row (can’t remember what it was about), but had Ross saying “do you think they thought we wouldn’t notice?” A news presenter who looks like he belongs on Kids TV, a weather girl who’s choice of clothing has us cringing, not to mention her bloody enthusiasm for whaffling on about god knows what before she gets to the point and tells us if it’s going to pour with rain today and content that could be best presented in a 10 minute segment, followed by a weather report of “it’s gonna rain tomorrow”… with that thought… “it’s gonna rain tomorrow” I can feel it happening…
