Not a world of adventure

The End?

Good news and bad news… I’m changing the site. Not just a design and infrastructure change. I’m changing the whole concept of the website. I’m doing an OU course in writing and, well, I really should be writing more if I actually want to be a writer in life. So I’m going to concentrate on the following:

My writing: short stories, memory dumps etc.
Motorsport: I do watch an awful lot of it, I could just comment on it.
News: I read a lot of what’s in the news and I’ve gotten more thoughtful in the way I respond to news items

There will be less of (I hope):
Personal rants, I need to be more constructive with my anger. Find other outlets for my frustrations.
Stupid posts

I’m also putting together a gallery, ok so I don’t actually have any pictures to put in there yet, but I do have a camera now, so I should at least make the effort.

The website will be running Word Press as I’ve just about had enough of the difficulties of installing Movable Type (when my hosting company does the intalls of things like Word Press & Gallery for me). I want to run tags so I need to upgrade to get there. Plus I have a wicked idea for a site design (of which I won’t be putting into place until I can find a designer who can do the work for me).

Watch this space. I expect I will archive off this old blog and start again as such.

Never…

… Piss of people in Restaurants, Hotels, Banks or anywhere else… obviously Mr Dick Head did…

Reading musings

Just been reading something about Google on the times online website (btw I have to admit Google is one of the few things out there that I actually agree with it’s monopolisation of, simply because it’s flashing advert free, easy to use, and I can always find what I’m looking for), anyway it mentioned that Anita Roddick (of the Body Shop for those of you who don’t know), has a weblog. So I thought, this could be interesting, so I took a strole over to her blog, and after only reading a few bits of the page, I’m amazed, it’s such an amazing site. For those of you who care about the world and the people who live on it, I’d have a look at it.

I feel bad about the world, and the way people are treated, and their basic denial of human rights. Although it is a matter than confusses me greatly. I say this because it’s difficult to know where to stand when a Prisoner has been jailed for horrific crimes, then says the prison system is denying them their human rights. Well am I the only person who wonders, what happened to the basic human right to life that this person denied. It’s like a catch 22 situation, you’re damned if you do, and well damned if you don’t. It makes me angry.

Then there is the issue of immigrants, ok so I’ll try to touch this political hot potato without scolding myself. I agree with the right of people to claim political asylum if they have a damning reason to, fear of death, torture or other such horrendous attrocoties. What I fail to agree with is people seeking asylum because we have a good benefits system. I know there is possibly only a few of these people out there, and the vast majority of these people are being tarred with the same brush, totally unfair I agree. So why is it that the people being sent home are the people that probably DO require asylum from us. I’m sure a lot of people coming here want to work, I don’t deny this, but if they don’t really have a valid reason to be escaping their country, other than to come here and take jobs from people who need them. I fear the balance of getting things right is failing those that need it the most.

So beside my ramblings, I guess I really wanted to ask, what can one person do to make a difference? Really I don’t know what I can do that would make such a difference to so many people. There are so many ways that time can be devoted to others, rather than just yourself. Finding one is so hard. So I think I will look into it, I’d like to make a small difference some how. After all if you can make one person a day smile, then you’ve achieved something pretty important.
